On Friday, November 25, 2022 at 1 pm, The Chester Land Trust and the Town of Chester hosted a Dedication Ceremony for the late Anna Sweeney, who passed away in September 2021.
A 10-acre parcel of town-owned land at the rear boundary of North Quarter Park off of Main Street will become the new "Anna Shubik Sweeney Preserve." Anna provided leadership and strategies to establish and incorporate the Chester Land Trust in 1987, and was Chester's Inland Wetland Enforcement Officer for many years. She was devoted and dedicated to protecting Chester’s unique environment for decades, being involved in several organizations. A important figure in town, Anna also maintained a law practice in Chester.
